A Proper Night Out: Lodge 281’s Summer Steak BBQ and Dance
Friday the 12th of June 2026 will be remembered as one of the best nights St Johnston Masonic Lodge 281 has hosted in recent years. The Summer Steak BBQ and Dance drew a full house to the Masonic Hall, and from the moment the doors opened at 8pm, it was clear this was going to be a special evening.
The Barbecue
The food was the centrepiece of the night, and it delivered. Freshly grilled steak, chicken, and burgers came off the barbecue all evening. The spread was generous, the quality was excellent, and nobody went home hungry. Catering for a full house is no small task, and the brethren and volunteers who worked the grill deserve real credit for keeping things running smoothly from start to finish.
The Music
Gary McMusic provided the entertainment, and he kept the floor alive all night. The music struck the right balance for the room, whether people were up dancing or settled in with good company and conversation. By the end of the night it was fair to say he had earned every round of applause he received.
The Raffle
A raffle added to the evening’s good cheer, with plenty of prizes on offer and plenty of winners on the night. The atmosphere during the draw was exactly what you hope for at events like this: good-natured, full of laughter, and great fun from start to finish.
A Night to Remember
Events like the Summer Steak BBQ and Dance are at the heart of what Lodge 281 does well. They bring brethren together with their families and friends, they raise the profile of the lodge in the local community, and they remind everyone why being part of St Johnston 281 is something worth celebrating.
To Sam and Terry, and everyone who helped organise and run the evening, thank you. You put on a night that will be talked about for a long time.
We look forward to doing it all again.
